Do you know someone who’s suffering, acting out or putting themselves or others in harm’s way? Do you feel that you can't give them enough emotional support or don't know how? It's okay. You can still help.
A concerned persons report is a confidential way for concerned classmates, employees, family members and friends to report challenging and at-risk behaviors of peers and loved ones to the Dean of Students.
Topics commonly reported through this form include:
- Aggressive behavior
- Changes in eating
- Dating issues
- Depression
- Difficulty adjusting to campus
- Emotional support
- Extreme withdrawal
- False or distorted beliefs
- Family issues
- Harassment
- Inability to contact/locate someone
- Peer issues
- Physical health
- Self-esteem
- Self-harming behavior
- Social skills
- Substance abuse
- Sudden change in appearance or behavior
- Suicidal gestures or threats
- Unusual interest in weapons
- Verbal or written threats
- Violent or disturbing statements
- Violent or disturbing writings or art
Confidentiality and after the report
The Academic Life Emergency Response Team (ALERTeam) is a student assistance team composed of the dean of students, counselors, staff, faculty and a residence director. This is an intervention team trained to identify, intervene with and refer for assistance those students who are at risk for stress, substance abuse, suicidal tendencies, etc., which affect their performance in school.
The ALERTeam will take reasonable steps to maintain the privacy of those who complete a concerned person report.

Other ways to report
If your concern isn't listed above or is about sexual or gender-based misconduct, including but not limited to dating violence, discrimination, domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault or stalking, you have options:
- Make a report online that the title ix coordinator will receive.
- Report it to the Department of Campus Safety.
- Confidentially report it to the confidential student advocate, health or counseling services
