For honorary Lynn University team member Ari Cohen, the Fighting Knights Baseball team members are more than teammates—they're family.

Since fall 2013, Cohen—who was diagnosed with Trisomy 9 Mosaic, a potentially life-threatening and chronic illness—has attended one practice each week during the school season and many baseball games thanks to a partnership between the Lynn Fighting Knights and Team IMPACT. In return, the Fighting Knights have joined Cohen for birthdays, professional baseball games and his bar mitzvah. The joy he gets out of being part of the team is mirrored by the student athletes, who've grown to love the young man.

"Every now and then someone comes around and opens your eyes to what's really important in life," said head coach Rudy Garbalosa. "People are what's important, and having Ari around us helps put in perspective that it doesn't matter if you went 0-for-4 or 4-for-4, it's about people and caring for one another."

Garbalosa added "Seeing our guys come out today and every time that he has been here in different stages in his life has been special. He has truly helped our student athletes become better people."
